Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is a health care service that provides assistance to individuals whose ability to function in daily life has been disrupted by physical illness or injury, development problems, or the aging process.

Occupational Therapists work with people of all ages who, because of physical, developmental, social, or emotional deficits, need specialized assistance in learning skills to enable them to lead independent, productive and satisfying lives.

Occupational Therapy (OT) focuses on activities of daily living. These activities include bathing, dressing, grooming, and functional transfers as well as job related tasks, driving skills, and skills for home and money management. In addition, OT addresses the components that factor into the performance of these activities including vision, perception, attention, cognition, upper extremity strength, coordination and range of motion, and balance and transfers from a functional viewpoint.

Our Occupational Therapist works with each patient to design a customized rehabilitation program that will suit individual needs and abilities. Our goal is to maximize function as soon as possible, following an injury, disease or surgery.
